Introduction to St. Andrews
St. Andrews is located in Southeast Brazil. It is 16km to the southeast of Sao Paulo, by Tamanduateí River and at an altitude of 743m. It has a population of 549,000, most of which are engaged in industry.
It became a town in 1553 in the colonial settlement of Portugal and became a city in 1889. Since 1930, it has witnessed rapid economic development. The city is one of the key industrial centers in Sao Paulo. Industries there include professional sectors such as iron & steel, copper smelting, aluminum metallurgy and chemistry as well as textile, agricultural machinery, electrical machinery, machine tool, cement, porcelain, furniture, aviation supplies and food.
