Main exchanges with Xiangyang
Cambodia and China have been friendly neighbors; in particular, the two countries have entered into a comprehensive strategic partnership, opening up a new green channel for both Chinese and Cambodian enterprises to learn from each and carry out cooperation and exchanges.
On July 21, 2015, an economic and trade delegation from Xiangyang visited Cambodia, and the both sides reached extensive consensus on cooperation in multiple fields. Xiangyang City and Takeo Province, Cambodia signed a letter of intent for establishing sister city ties. Enterprises in Xiangyang City concluded MOUs on cooperation with Cambodian enterprises.
On August 5 through 7, 2015, the delegation of Kingdom of Cambodia Government led by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister Sok An and his wife came to Xiangyang and visited Xiangda Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Group, Dongfeng Light Vehicles Co., Ltd., DFISEKI, Xiangyang Yuqing Transmission Technology Co., Ltd., Xiangyang Modern Agriculture Comprehensive Demonstration Zone, Mi Fu Memorial Temple, Ancient Longzhong, etc. in succession.
On August 22, 2016, the Signing Ceremony for Sister City Agreement between Xiangyang and Takeo Province, Cambodia was held in Nanhu Hotel, in which Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor Qin Jun of Xiangyang City and Governor Lay Vannak of Takeo Province signed the agreement on behalf of the two cities respectively. This is the first sister city of Xiangyang City along the Marine Silk Road. Present were city leaders including Yue Xingping, Ai Wenjin, Hu Yixin, Zhan Dehao and Wang Wanqing. Upon the sister city agreement, Xiangyang City and Takeo Province will strengthen cooperation in a higher level and wider range, bring more benefits to people in the two places.
Introduction to Takeo Province
Located in the southwest of the Kingdom of Cambodia and with Duonkeo City
As its capital, Takeo Province consists of one city and nine counties. Takeo Province has a population of about 990,000 and covers an area of about 3,563 square kilometers, bordering Kandal to the north, Kampong Speu and Kampot to the west and Vietnam to the south and east. Takeo Province is the oldest province among the 24 provinces and cities of the Kingdom of Cambodia and is the cradle of Khmer culture and cultivation; it possesses abundant cultural, historical and national landscapes.
In Takeo Province, about 79.01% of the population is engaged in agriculture, including rice farming, vegetables and fruits, fishing, livestock breeding, household hand weaving, etc. The rest of the population is mainly involved in jobs such as civil servants, businessmen, service providers and workers.
Land available to agricultural production in Takeo Province covers an area of 2,490 square kilometers, including 1,700 square kilometers or so for rice in rainy season, about 750 square kilometers for rice in dry season and about 40 square kilometers for garden plot; tree planting centers managed by the country cover an area of about 34.15 square kilometers, and the rest is occupied by residences, forests, lakes, rivers, water channels and buildings, among others.
Vegetables and other crops are mostly grown by households in Takeo Province, covering a total land area of 37.54 square kilometers, including cassava, sweet potato, peanut, corn, sesame, sugarcane, watermelon, soy bean and so on.
